In this document we give a detailed description of the various dialogue acts used in VERBMOBIL.

• Illocution:
  The information given under this heading describes the meaning of the dialogue act and gives an explanation for its use.
• Subcategorization:
  Under this label all acts are given which refine the dialogue act under consideration. The subcategorization principle leads to a hierarchical taxonomy of dialogue acts.

• Linguistic Realisation:
  Here brief German examples are listed which contain cue phrases that typicially occur in utterances belonging to the respective dialogue act type.
• Full Example(s) English:
  This section includes full examples for occurrences of the dialogue act which have been taken from our corpus of appointment scheduling dialogues. These examples also provide contextual information for utterances of the respective type. The text corresponding to the dialogue act is printed in Italics, the context in Roman.
