Symbol | # |
Definition |
The highlighting of numbers in a transcription with the hash mark [#] to make later analysis easier. |
Description |
All numbers are written out alphabetically, NOT numerically: twenty, nine, fifteen, etc. As is standard in regular typography, numbers, which are written as two words with a hyphen between them, such as twenty-two and thirty-three, are still hyphenated. However, this applies only for two digit numbers. Three digit numbers are not hyphenated. The hash mark [#] will always appear at the beginning of the word. Only one mark is necessary for hyphenated cases. |
Examples |
1. 1. #two #hundred and #thirty-three . 2. I believe there will be #fourteen of us . 3. shall we meet on the #fifteenth of May ? 4. we will be here at #one o'clock then . 5. my phone number is #two #six #eight #fourteen #hundred . 6. #two #hundred #thousand #forty-four . |
